The ninth edition of the Learning Analytics Summer Institue Spain 2020 (LASI SPAIN 2020) (http://lasi20.snola.es), took place as a fully on-line conference from the 15th to 16th of June 2020, was organized by the GSIC-EMIC research group (https://www.gsic.uva.es/), as coordinator of SNOLA (Spanish Network of Learning Analytics) (http://snola.es). LASI Spain is part of the global LASI network, conceived as a platform to catalyze educators, technologists, researchers, enterprises and policymakers around shaping the next generation of learning infrastructures to truly serve the needs now facing the education sector. For this edition, due to the CoVid-19 outbreak, the conference has shifted to a fully on-line event.
LASI Spain 2020 aimed to address state-of-the-art advances in learning analytics, and to gather mulyidisciplinary but complementary approaches from different fields, such as Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Education, Sociology and Psychology. Its program (https://lasi20.snola.es/posts/program.html) included 4 sessions with 14 research papers, 1 panel with 3 researchers from Latin America, and 1 doctoral consortium with 4 doctoral candidates. More than 130 participants from Spain, Latin America and all over the world were registered and actively participated in the event.
Dr. Abelardo Pardo (University of South Australia) and Dr. Michail Giannakos (Norwegian University of Science and Technolgy) delivered their keynote talks on Effective adoption of Learning Analytics in Educational Institutions and Sensing-based Analytics to Support Learning Design respectively.
